the third time the 7M in my cressida has been running since i took it apart in july to replace the head gasket and ultimately rebuild a head for the motor that wasnt cracked.

there were only 2 issues: were a leaky fuel fitting i forgot to tighten, (and i caught that right away and there was no fire lol) and it was low on power steering fluid and the pump was making noise. but it shut the fuck up after i filled it.

the only real problem with the cressida now is that it’s owner is too broke to buy coolant lol

sooooooo close to firing her up
all ive got left is changing the oil, adding coolant, getting bolts for the exhaust manifold, and putting the rest of the intake stuff on.
also its kindof dissapointing how much my pretty gunmetal valvecovers are covered up by stuff :(

oh man

i knew the valvecovers i painted were gonna look nice on the engine

but i didnt know theyd look this good

(the paint is metallic but pictures dont do it justice)

exhaust system anchored back in, manifold lined up on the studs (learned one of the studs was bent and thats why we had so much trouble putting the head on the first time.

heater bypass fitting in the way back put in

timing belt installed

oh yes also headbolts tightened :D

finally

80$ down the toilet

goddamnit.

cylinder head still isnt on.

too much to do and had to help the boss with some crap.  also spent about an hour looking for some shit (never found it)

but like every single possible thing is done-

  • headbolt threads in the block cleaned out and chased with a tap
  • tops of pistons cleaned up
  • wire brushed block surface and got off all the old gasket shit
  • headbolts cleaned up
  • cam gears torqued
  • pushed the car inside the garage cause its gonna get fuckin cold overnight
  • finished final cleaning of the head and block surfaces with a bunch of carb cleaner
  • heater bypass hose hooked up (pain in the ass to do with the head on)

all thats left to do is spray the gasket with copper stufff and stick the shit together.
